Tidbit Tuesday: What I'm Loving This Week

I have no excuse not to blog today. This is the third snow day in a week and I am going stir crazy over here. I've cleaned the house, finished the laundry, put away the laundry, cleaned out the pantry, cleaned out the refrigerator, put on a pot of chili, and organized my make-up storage. Now I am sitting here under my favorite Pottery Barn faux fur blanket and I thought I would say hi to you all and share 5 things that I am loving this week. I go through phases. Maybe you do too? I will find a lipstick or a foundation that I love and I will use it until I feel like I want to try something else. I go through food cravings and I will eat that particular food until I am sick of it. I am the type of person that is always evolving and I love to try to new things. That is why Tidbit Tuesday is perfect--so I can share what my "flavor of the week" is. :) Leave a comment for me in the comment section and tell me what you are loving at the moment...or if you've tried what I have!

I am loving this foundation routine at the moment. I have combination skin, especially in the winter, and this particular foundation is so matte and has about medium coverage. It controls oil all day. Usually, I have such a hard time with drugstore foundations. I like to try my foundations before I purchase them which is why I usually go to Nordstrom. I like to get an exact match in color. But, I decided to be brave and just try it because I have heard rave reviews about this particular product. A little tip when trying to match drugstore colors without opening them-- just put the bottle right up to the back of your hand. It normally is the same color as your face. When applying this foundation, I would definitely use a damp beauty blender so the foundation goes on easier. If you don't have one of those, just wet a drugstore makeup sponge and pat, pat, pat.

If you follow me on Instagram, (@thetaylordiary) you are already well aware how much I love these little guys. I particularly can't wait to see what it looks like with a tan in the summer. They have so many different colors. I went with the color Rose Petal which looks like a light, peachy pink. I usually have a big problem with cream blushes settling into my pores and causing build up but it doesn't do that at all. The only complaint I have about this product is that it isn't very long wearing. But, the good thing is that you don't need a brush to apply it so I usually just throw it in my purse and re-apply throughout the day. I also love matching my blush to my lips so sometimes I will just dab a bit on my finger and apply to my bottom lips to create a pouty effect. Go grab one of these if you are looking for a naturally flushed look. They are oil-free and very lightweight!

I LOVE THIS STUFF. No, Seriously. I do. If you haven't tried the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters, do it! They are gorgeous. I bought this Rasberry Pie color and it is beautiful. The next colors on my list to buy are the Candy Apple which is kind of a tomato red, and Sweet Tart which is the prettiest candy light pink (perfect for Spring/Summer). These lipsticks are great for those of you who want to try out some color but don't want to spend a fortune finding the right shades. Oh, and no need to wear Chapstick with these babies...they have mango, Shea butter and Coconut butter to soothe your lippies. The only con-- because of the buttery, glossy finish, they aren't going to last for a long time. Just re-apply and you are good to go. You don't need a lip liner with these.

I was looking for a shampoo that I could use once a week that would completely strip my hair of residue that had built up from the product I pile on. This Garnier Fructis Fortifying Shampoo works great. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a shampoo that I only use once a week and is literally only on my hair for 30 seconds. Still, it works great for what I needed it for. It is infused with Acerola Berry Antioxidant and does not leave a heavy residue. I usually use this on Sunday when I plan to let my hair air dry. (By the way, this is one of my favorite things to do. I love air drying my hair.) Plus, I love the smell. It is so clean and fresh. No Silicone, no Paraben, and No Dye. If you feel like your hair has been weighed down lately, try a fortifying shampoo. I also really like the Neutrogena Anti-Residue Formula as well. I just finished it up and decided to try the Garnier Fructis and so far, I like!

For my non-beauty addiction at the moment, I would like to present to you Parmesan Goldfish. I ate an entire package of these in a day and a half. Woops. Now, I am sitting here (snowed in) and I am completely out. I feel like I am going to get anxiety because I can't get out to buy more. By the way, these are so good in place of crackers in chicken noodle soup. Annnd, they smile at me when I eat them. Just look at the package. Okay, I am officially a looney tune and am going to sign off. As always, thanks for reading!

Street Style Saturday: Quay Coffee

After two days stuck in the house from Snowmagedeon/Snowpocalypse, we had to get out. We decided to head down to the River Market area of downtown Kansas City and pop in our favorite coffee place called Quay Coffee. They make fresh drip coffee and it is the cutest little Portland-esque coffee hut. If you live in the Kansas City area, you should definitely drop in and check it out. There are three things I noticed about this post...A) My pictures are terrible today, B) I need my hair highlighted so bad I can hardly stand it and C) My outfit isn't that great. I have been wearing sweatpants for 3 days and wanted to still be comfy. Sorry for being lazy.

Tidbits Tuesday: What I'm loving Now

Hi friends!

So this is my first Tidbits Tuesday feature and I have tons of things I am loving at the moment that I want to share with you. But, for the sake of time, I am only going to share 8. 4 random, non beauty items and 4 beauty items. Here is what I am loving the most this week:

My sister in law pinned this amazing pan of 'yummyness' on pintrest and I just had to try it out. It is called Baked Cheesy Chicken Penne and you can find the full recipe here. I made this for my husband last night and it was great. I usually don't toot my own horn but it was so totally restaurant worthy. I'm accepting applications as I type this. I kid, I kid.

If you know me, you know I have a teeny, tiny obsession with Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge. How could you not? (Lauran, I know you will appreciate this.) While I don't think it is fair that the associated press hounds her for baby bump pictures, I am guilty of scouring the internet for her latest pop ups. I don't know about y'all, but I am just dying to see what she wears for her maternity. This is not the last thing you will hear from me about this chick. She pretty much rocks.

I seriously can't believe I am admitting that I watch this. My husband and I both do. I have found this season to be so intense. Drama, drama, drama. All jokes aside, how many of you watch this and are looking forward to next week's episode when supposidly Desiree's brother and Sean get into a physical altercation? I know I am. Bring it. So glad I don't have to watch Tierra's eyebrow raise anymore by the way.

Turn on some Bachelor and let me pop one of these in the oven and I am set. If you haven't tried this exact frozen pizza, get off your butt (and your diet) and run to the store....as fast as you can. I am seriously addicted to this and have to have it at least once a week. Maybe this is a good thing to give up for lent? Or maybe I will just vow everytime I eat one to do a few sit ups. That'll do. Thank me later.

THIS STUFF SMELLS SO GOOD. Perfect for Valentine's Day. I'm not sure if it is a new scent but I picked mine up at Beauty Brands a little while ago and decided to save it for the month of February. No reason in particular, I just wanted something festive. It retails for $24.00 and can be used as a shampoo, bath & shower gel. I love Philosopy. Every one of their scents leaves you feeling fresh and girly. I am also in the market for some Soap and Glory body wash however, I can't find any store that sells it and I want to smell it before I buy it. If you have an idea where I can get some, leave me a comment!

My mom bought me this Mac Paint Pot in the color Constructivist. (Thanks mum!) This has become a holy grail item in my makeup routine. It can be used as an eyeshadow primer or or a cream shadow. It is a warm brown with a slight shimmer and is so flattering. I really like a smokey eye and my favorite way to create that effect is with brown colors. Hit up your local Mac and try it out. They have a lot of other colors too!

I seriously bought this Laura Mercier Lip Stain so long ago. I have recently discovered it again from my makeup collection. I think when I first bought it, I was trying to be brave and wear deep lip colors. Then I stopped being brave and put it away. Well, I am back being brave again. It is in the color Mulberry. It can be applied with your finger or a lip brush. My personal preference is to apply it with my index finger because it is more of a stain so I want it to go on lighter. I love how matte it is! I hope you will try it out and let me know what you think!
I could not find a picture of this Chanel Glossimer on the internet for the life of me so I snapped a pic of my own. I hope you can tell what color it is. (I tried to take a picture under natural light.) This is a deep magenta/purple color perfect for Winter! I have been using it a lot lately during the day and night even though it is really pigmented. For the record, I don't usually spend money on luxury beauty products like this. I think this was a Christmas present from my sister-in-law a year ago. I love this purple color with my blonde hair but I could totally see it on a brunette as well. Love this!

So those are 8 of my favorite things this week. Leave me a comment and tell me what you are loving this week. I always like to see what others are coveting.

Mani Monday : Valentine Sparkles

Happy Valentine's week to everyone! I never go overboard with Valentine's Day. I just don't. I don't have time...I'm certainly not creative...and I don't decorate. I will probably make some heart cookies with frosting and sprinkles for my cookie monster husband but that's it. Oh, except for these nails. I decided this was about as festive as it was going to get....and maybe I will slap on some pink or red lipstick. :) How are y'all doing your nails this week for Valentine's Day?

Here's mine:

OPI Japanese Rose Garden and Deborah Lippman Candy Shop

This weekend was so nice, relaxing...and productive! I really do value the time I get to spend with my husband on the weekends. We laugh and crack jokes constantly so I feel healthier. I don't think one person could disagree that laughter is the best medicine. Last week was a rough week for me in a couple different ways (although I know it could have been worse). I am so looking forward to celebrating the love I have with my husband and myself this week. If you don't have a Valentine, pamper yourself! I know I will and I've got one. I am also looking forward to getting my ashes on Wednesday to mark the beginning of the lenten season.
Turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel.

Happy Valentine's Day, friends!

Street Style Saturday: Rain Dance

Sorry about the fuzzy pictures. Tyler and I came to my parents house for dinner today and we brought the nice camera with us to take pictures, however, we went to turn it on and realized the battery was still plugged into the charger...at HOME. Cool. Anyway, phone pics it is. The title of this post is "rain dance" because these boots have so much fringe that it takes me back to my Native American roots. :) I have had them forever and thought I would bust them out. I hope y'all are having a relaxing weekend. I lounged in bed until noon and just threw this on for a comfy Saturday. What are you doing this weekend?!

Feature Friday : Tanya Burr

It's Feature Friday!

Today, I am going to feature one of my favorite beauty bloggers. Her name is Tanya Burr and she is based in the UK. She really is talented and provides amazing advice and tutorials for any look you are trying to achieve. It is a given that I love watching her also because of her accent. It is so fun!

Go here and check her out! You can also click on her YouTube buttons and view her beauty channel or her Vlog channel. Make sure to check this out when you have a free day because it will suck you in with the amount of knowledge she has about fun products and beauty enhancing tutorials.

I selected the Kierra Knightly makeup tutorial to feature because I love how natural, yet dramatic her make up looks! Enjoy!

Therapist Thursday- Divy it up, Yo!

Okay, it's about to get real y'all. I have been in such a funk about posting on here. I want to do more outfit posts because a lot of you ask me for them, however, it just gets too dark too fast and not to mention it is freezing outside. I hope to still do a couple a week but until Spring's longer days I wanted to do something on my blog that will be kind of a fun challenge. Each day, I will feature a different subject. This should keep me in line with my blogging duties. Here is how it's going to go:

Mani Monday: I will talk about the latest nail trends and/or feature my manicure of the week. This will force me to keep my nails in shape and have fun with them. I always like trying new colors and I'm about to get funky with different designs. Stay tuned all you #notd lovers.

Tuesday Tidbits: This will be a little "what I'm loving at the moment" feature. It will be anything from a favorite lip gloss, to TV show, to the cereal I am eating for the week. I am hoping to keep it interesting. (?)

What I'm Wearing Wednesday: Just a typical mid-week outfit feature. Hopefully, my husband will have time to take my outfit pictures for me but if not, I will just do a little "selfie." :)

Therapist Thursday: I am a firm believer in talking about what is going on in my life, good or bad. I feel if you address things up front and openly, they don't get put on the back burner and you can continue to work on things to better yourself. I will try not to go too into detail but I have found from reading when other bloggers address a struggle or something they are dealing with, I can totally relate on some level and in some way I am helped by it. Just wait until you read today's Therapist Thursday. Holy COW. Why didn't I start this 9 months ago!!?

Feature Friday: I'm going to highlight a blog I'm loving at the moment! This particular blogger might not even know I am highlighting them, but oh well! I love discovering new reading material so hopefully you will too! Free advertising...woohoo!

Street Syle Saturday: Today I will feature what I wore for my weekend/Saturday adventures! It may not be up until the evening but make sure you watch for it!

Snapshot Sunday: Sunday will be my off day from blogging. I'm going to need a day to just step away so I will have a scheduled post of fun snapshots from the week. They will most likely be instagram driven. :)

So today's feature is Therapist Thursday. Lately, I have been so incredibly overwhelmed with work, home life, and personal stuff that I just never feel settled or organized. I hate this feeling. I'm sure you have experienced how I am feeling at some point in your life. This is particularly true with housework. Ugh. Everything is just so daunting when it comes to house work. I'm almost positive my husband think I am crazy about this and in reality, I am. I've come to terms. We both work full time and we don't have yard work...soooo...I am totally going to present this idea to him tonight. (Hopefully he doesn't read this first.) I came across this amazingness on Pinterest a couple days ago. It is from the blog www.bloominghomestead.com. (Direct link here) What is even cooler is that she includes a PDF that you can download and personalize for yourself because as I said before, we have no yard work. Check it:
I mean seriously. How amazing is this?!? This is a menu (if you will) of literally everything we have to do to keep up a house. Why in the heck would I continue to torture myself with leaving this to one day to complete? No wonder I am so overwhelmed all of the time. There are at least 2 things each day to complete..perfect for dividing between my husband and me. What do you think readers? Would you do this schedule or would you rather leave it all to one day? Or heck, would you rather just stop all together. It is so tempting, right? The floor is open for comments. Ready. Set. Go.

XOXO,
